Am considering putting down laminate flooring in the bedroom and living area. Am thinking about doing the work myself. Would like to know if anyone has had experience doing this and if you can tell me how well the flooring will hold up.
Is one brand better then the other? If so, which band do you recommend.

Billy by Flo,
You're probably not getting much response here because this has come up so often. Folks get tired of typing in the same answers. Do a search. I would search for "laminate" or maybe "Pergo".

*Rich:I'll give it a shot as I haven't answered many laminate flooring q's here, like I have at floorsearch.com. One brand better than the other? Yes and no, though I would be very concerned with what is termed "overwood" which means one plank is milled different than the other and could cause some chipping off. I haven't heard of it yet, though I'm not a flooring inspector and don't even want to go near a laminate floor repair. In any event, a laminate foor, depending on traffic and other variables will last ?? The bedroom will last much longer than the living area as there won't be as much potential damage on it considering the amount of traffic. In kitchens, knives or heavy objects falling on the floor will certainly cause dreadful repair options.Good Luck:)
