It seems to me that installing Kerdi with modified thinset in your repair section is a little off base. We have always used non modified thinset to instal Kerdi – never modified. When taping the seems the latex prevents the thinset from fully curing in the middle.
I would have rough up the tile (more than whats shown) and set the new tile over top with a product like Granny Rapid.
Is this a mis print or does the Author have some tricks not mention in the Schulter books?
