Readily Available low VOC Paint
I would appreciate any comments from those of you that have used ICI/Dulux Lifemaster 2000 Eggshell and/or Semigloss paint. I am trying to improve the indoor air quality of a new church building particularly for chemically sensitive individuals and children, but I am also concerned about product performance and durability. Sherwin Williams Harmony is also a paint I have considered. Thanks in advance.

It was one of the choices I tested out personally several years ago when diagnosed with asthma. Something in the paint did not agree with me, and I did much better with Benjamin Moore's EcoSpec line. Used the eggshell and flat and both have held up well at home for 5 years now. The odor was so low that I was able to use the bath the same night it was painted and it is a totally indoor room with no windows to ventilate it--only its exhaust fan.
Good luck and glad to see someone interested in this.
SW Duration Home is also low VOC, I believe Harmony is zero VOC. Duration is a great paint and Harmony is a very good paint. I have had no complaints with either.
Low VOC is generally defined as less than 100 grams per liter for flat latex. Duron Builders Masterpiece is a good paint and the base for flat latex is 50 grams per liter. the pigments can contain a significant amount of VOC so you can run into trouble trying to get a really dark paint and keep the VOCs under 100 G/L. We've been very pleased with the Duron Product.
