Reattaching veneer brick – how to cheat
weekend warrior (actually, since I’m retired, constant warrior), doing front landscaping that includes a concrete edging around a walkway, covered with one row of veneer brick on the elevation (aka vertical face of edging); it will have full brick on top. The veneer bricks were installed within the last week or so, using Type S mortar, so the mortar’s presumably still fairly green.
When my coworker on the project was spreading and tamping the gravel base under the walkway itself, he knocked one of the veneer bricks off the edging by setting a bucket on top of the wall.
Now, I know that the right approach is to chip off the mortar and reapply; but are there any reliable cheats that will work? Construction adhesive?

I'd try a tube of one of the concrete crack repair stuff.

As long as the bed joint isn't powdery you
can glue it back on.
But, you still have to repoint it with mortar so why not
just set it proper?
It managed to fall off leaving the pointing intact
I guess your OK then. I'm fussy. I'd want to keep the water out.
"I'd want to keep the water out."
U ever see that display with the garden hose running against a brick facade?
I think the engineered building science guys did it.
anyways ... they ran a hose maybe 5 minutes ... total saturation.
after a little time ... each bit of water that got sprayed on ... got drained out the backside. Brick ain't waterproof ... just like every other siding material out there.
No sense worrying about keeping the water out ... worry about letting it drain and dry ... cause it's gonna get behind what ever siding is used.

Very true. The difference would be any puddling. Come the first freeze thaw
cycle that trapped water will reek havoc.
