Recommend radiant heat under wood?
We are adding a new family room (lots of windows) and my husband wants to put radiant in the addition as well as retrofit the rest of the first floor which is oak flooring (recently installed). After reading many postings on this site, he’s convinced radiant is the way to go. I’m glad to get rid of the baseboard.
However, a contractor we spoke with would not install radiant under wood floors b/c the wood does not “do well” with the heat below. He says radiant should only be used under tile.
While the radiant sounds great to me, this comment made me nervous. Can anyone share experiences regarding radiant under wood?
Thanks

Radiant does great under wood floors as long as the maximum surface temperature is limited. Usually no hotter than 85 F. Check out http://www.radiantguide.com and purchase the Radiant Flooring Guide for more info on flooring choices with RFH
