I’ve read through a few of the older threads about sprayers, but wanted to start a new one in case new brands or models may have surfaced.
Looking for recommendations for a paint sprayer. Current project will be to paint the interior of a 1600sq home, but future uses could also include exterior painting and possible stain applications.
A couple of the previous threads mention the Titan 440i. What other good sprayers are out there? Either new ones or used ones that might still be available on eBay or such.

Our pawnshops hereabouts are usually pretty sad. Junky, beat-up tools that they want 50% or more of new value out of. But I think I'll try to run by them this weekend and take a look.
LOL, maybe I'll need you to buy one at your pawnshop and ship it up here.

I too have a Titan 440 and it is fantastic.ML
my local pawnshop have several now for $200...
I struck out here. No Titan and no Graco. Shoot, two of the pawnshops and the Retool store aren't even there any more.
Does your pawnshop have a website? $200 sounds like a darn good deal on a functional Titan 440.jt8

Forgot to reply on this one. They were out of Titans when I called him. I might try again in a week or so.
The new ones on eBay are running $770-ish, which is more than I want to shell out. The used ones seem to be running $350-400 right now. I'm watching a new ebay auction that has a new one for $450 but they just listed it so I'm expecting it to run up to 6 or 7. jt8
if you just need it for a 1600 sq ft house... use high quality rollers and a better quality paint. Save your money on the sprayer (Wooster rollers- Avalon or the 18" rollers will help knock the job out quickly).
If you do decide purchase a sprayer go w. Graco, because most local places service them...
if you talking about airless. I got a wagner that I bought at HD that never gave me any problems.

This has been a sweet little pump.

Shot about 35-40 gallons so far, alnost makes painting fun! I was gonna buy a Titan based on recs here, this was about $300 more at local shop. Happened to spot it on CL same price as Titan. Painter had a shop break-in got a bunch of pumps stolen. Insurance was buying him new equipment in lieu of cash. He was peddling the new stuff cuz' he was scaling down. Insurance refused to cash him out...weird.
I did add a 5' whip to end on his reccomendation, and will get a tip extension when I do ceiling.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
PeterJ is right on about the Graco 395.
I got the hi-boy though which makes easier to haul around the 5 gallon paint bucket.
And it is a sweet machine.
Look at local availability of parts and tips. My paint store has a large display for Graco compared to the small cabinet for the Titan. That is one of my considerations when buying the Graco.
Impossible is an opinion.
graco ... (small unit is fine for periodic use... like 395 ultra high or low as mentioned)...excellent machines!
You will need something that you will be able to buy tips for
I have a titan airless sprayer and I think you can go to Sherwin Williams and buy the tips and accessories
I looked at Home Depot and they did not have the tips that fit in the gun and the paint sprays through
I think you are supposed to replace the tip every ______ number of gallons sprayed through the gun
Apparantly the paint being sprayed outward is kind of like an abrasive to the tip and they wear out.
I have only used my sprayer once a year for the past five or six years so I don't remember all the details.
Why buy a pro quality gun for just a few jobs? Wagner Paint Crew is the one that a previous poster mentioned. You can buy it for under two hundred bucks and the one I bought is still going strong after two years. If you paint every day, spend a thousand dollars.

I had considered one of those about a year ago when Amazon was running a sale on the previous model recondition. IIRC, it was $75. But the reviews seemed hot and cold. I couldn't figure out if the unit had problems and you were gambling on getting a good one, or if the yahoos using it weren't smart enough to operate it correctly.
The current model seems to have much better reviews and the reconditioned is running $99. But if I had my choice, I'd rather have a used professional unit for $2-300 rather than a home-owner level unit for $100. If I decide to sell the pro unit, it will likely still be worth $2-300, so I'm only out maintenance on the unit.
