Getting ready to trim a house. Going with a arts and crafts (mission) style and plan to use 3/4 and 1-1/16 inch red oak in various widths around the doors, windows, and mission style wainscoting. My question, what is the best size, type, brand of nailer to use? I don’t want to have problems with split wood.
Any advice is welcome!!!!

I would say a 16 guage with 2" nails on the 3/4 and maybe 2 1/2" on the 1 1/8 wood. I like to nail around the inside to the jambs with an 18 guage nailer and switch to a 16 or 15 guage nail on the outside, you only need a few of the larger nails per length. If you can, be sure to biscuit your corners and miters for a good strong alignment, or if you're going to nail your joints, stick a small shim under the backside of the joint to help align it properly. Use glue on all the joints, but if this trim is going to be stained or finished clear, make sure the glue is wiped off clean with a wet rag.
