I recently replaced my built-in refigerator and am trying to decide what kind of tubing to use for the water line. There is a cold water pipe in the basement directly below the refigerator and for my previous refigerator (22 years ago) I just drilled a hole in the floor and used a 10 ” length of copper tubing. Now I notice that besides the copper they sell reinforced PVC tubing and clear vinyl ? tubing. Any comments on the relative merits of each?

Braided stainless steel supply line
is what I'd run to a valve on the water line. If you have a problem with the refrigerator, you can turn the valve off and remove the supply line with much less hassle than shutting down the whole house and leaving it off until you get the fridge hooked back up.
In this case I don't think the materials matter nearly as much as workmanship with fittings and fasteners.
