Hi to all: Told you I would be asking many questions. On my new home ( building in the South) I am considering using the reflective faced roof sheeting in order to reduce attic heat. I know that the reflective faces towards the attic space. How efficient is this type of sheeting in reducing attic heat? What is the cost difference between regular sheeting and foil faced sheeting? Any other comments or suggestion is appreciated.
As usual thanks to all who respond.

At the borg, the price is about twice that of the plain OSB $5 vs $10 or about $.16 a sq. ft. cost increase.
Many people think it is worth it.
The Florida Solar Institute has done lots of research on solar heat gains inside houses.
IIRC they really like the performance of radaint barriers like you want to use.

I did it in my garage, and it does make a difference - not one I can quantify because the old roof was so different from the new one.
You might wat to look at using regular OSB over a layer of foil faced polurathane foam board. The extra bit of insulation right at the source of the heat - before it hits your framing - will make an even bigger difference.

See if they make it on plywood. It's much better than OSB. IMO
