Reflective Treatment for Roof??
Hi All,
I recently heard about something you paint on your roof that is supposed to make the surface more reflective and reduce the temperature in the upper story of your house.
I have a loft, a converted attic. I would LOVE to reduce the temperature up there in the summer time!
I forget the name of the stuff. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Is it easy to apply? And does it work?
Thanks!

Maybe Henry's #229 aluminum paint glop? I used it on my old flat BUR. It also seeps into small leaks and seals them. Buys you a few more years on an old roof.

Pull down to "cool roof systems" and look at the graph. As one would suspect, white out performs aluminum by a wide margin. Consequently, I'd recommend a white surface.
I can easily prove this to myself any summer day. (Sun doesn't shine much here in the winter) My truck body is black, the topper is aluminum and there's a 10' white 6" dia. PVC pipe up top to carry 10' sticks of plumbing and electrical conduit.
Lay your hand on the various surfaces on a 100F sunny day and you won't have many questions left as to which is coolest.
