My church wants to lock the refrigerator. We allow our building to be used by several groups (AA, NA, another church’s women’s study) but they keep raiding the fridge, despite promises not to.
I found this. Also considering something like this.
was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

Two different applications. One is for a corner installation, the other for same plane installation.
Also, consider that with one you will have the option of using a combination lock, though I am sure your can get a similar latch to the second which offers an alternate locking method.
As for security, I don't think anyone will be showing up with bolt cutters to thwart your security measures.
I would opt for a combination lock rather than keyed lock. Seems like a number of people in your situation would need to have access and combinations are easy to pass along. Keys get lost, are forgotten and can limit access more than you may want. If too many people get access to the combination you just purchase another lock and make a few phone calls for combination distribution. Much easier than key distribution.

I saw the title of the thread and was thinking...
Dieting aid ???
Maybe a big sign that says,
" Thou Shalt Not . . . "

When I was trustee, we constantly struggled with this exact same issue.
It escapes me how or if we were ever able to resolve it.
With out the receipts from theses groups, we would have had to close up the building many years before that actually came about.
I'm thinking seperate units would solve the crisis.
How about buying them one of those little dorm units and locking yours up. Problem I see is access to the keys.
Good luck!

That first solution really works !!
And it looks better than the second one.
I tried to get one of those things off of a donated computer one time...
Ended up replacing the computer case, because the case ended up being battered, torn, and bent. ...And the friggen lock plate was STILL on it !!!

It is easy to be friends with someone you always agree with.
If both mounting options, either type, is peel and stick adhesive, I would think either is OK.
You probably already know this, but the metal skin on a fridge door is pretty thin. Not much purchase at all for a sheet metal screw.
Foamtape mount ought to work just fine, for the purpose intended. After all, there is quite a bit of stuff mounted to the outside of trucks, busses, cars, and even airplanes with the stuff, and I'm not seeing too many parts and moldings flying off out of control.
A clever person suffering out-of-control violent munchies, isn't going to be stopped by anything you can do. You just need to prevent casual noshing or theft.
Key lock is OK, as long as everybody has a key, or knows where to find one. Combinations need to be remembered, or like keys, kept somewhere written down where those that need them can find them.

We had a similar problem at work with the “nightlies” helping themselves to our leftovers. We fixed them one night last spring when we laced everything with Express Lax. We have not lost a morsel since then.
