Any ideas on how to restore the lustre on a 25 year old porcelained cast iron bath tub that’s been dulled by a chalky deposit / etch / scum? I’ve tried scaping with a razor blade, scrubbing with nylon pads laced with mild abrasives (Soft Scrub, Bon Ami, Old Dutch, Comet), soaking with organic (sulfamic) and inorganic (HCl) acids, doused it with detergents ranging from TSP to citrus and pine oils, and tried all sorts of commercial preparations such as Lime Away; all with nothing better than removal of surface dirt. Best I’ve done so far is cleaning followed by hard waxes such as Gel Gloss; but that only partially hides the chalkiness and washes off quickly.

Greetings Joel, As a first time poster Welcome to Breaktime.
That subject has been addressed here on Breaktime a number of different times in the past.
In the event you fail to receive the information you desire, you might find it in the archives.
If you scroll down in the lower left corner of your screen there is a search function that will take you to previous threads dealing with whatever you type in the search bar.
If you type in 'porcelain' or other keywords of the subject matter you'll get a supply of data from those old threads.
Cheers
