The weather is changing and I’ve noticed the first of the seasons wandering ants in our kitchen. I’ve been fighting them off for 3 years now, and can’t seem to get rid of them completely. I have a pressure spray bottle, and tried two different brands. First with the recommended concentration, and then higher concentrations. I’ve sprayed around the entire foundation, around windows, doors, and in the basement under the kitchen. We’ve used several brands of the ant baits. Still no success.
I cant really tell where they are coming from, but I’m pretty sure at this point that they have a nest inside of a wall, under the cabinets or in void in the foundation. It doesn’t seem to matter if I keep the kitchen very clean or not. There will be ants in the summer. The residual water in the sink seems to be a bigger draw than food.
When I replaced the front porch floor, I found ants nesting in every single groove of the tongue and groove boards when ripping them up. At that time there was very little evidence that they were even there.
Short of fumagating the entire house is there something that you know of that works?

If no kids under 2 YO,
Very small amount of chlorodane, found a pint at a garage sale last year even, otherwise pro application only and the 'pros' always use way too much, which is partly responsible for why you cant buy it at HD these days. .
you will get lots of boric acid answers also.
Here is a current discussion that has a lot of replies :
