I have a customer who is considering having me remove the stone and mortar from their fireplace and cover the wall with drywall making a smooth drywall transition across the entire wall. The fireplace has a propane insert (Country Stoves) in place now and it will be re-installed when the proposed project is complete (time frame for project is Fall ’07). I will also be installing a new mantel of their choice.
Any issues here to consider before I price this thing? Like NFPA clearances? Combustible construction materials in proximity to the insert? Thanks.

I don't think you will have any problem doing what you're proposing. However, I would look at the MFG's installation instructions for the stove and make sure you are following their recommendations.
Thank you rez and woodroe. I have uncovered info by web searching and phoning and stuff. Using all resources, you know.
Rez, bump king.
