I’m removing carpet from my basement floor. The carpet is coming out pretty easy, but i can’t seem to get the glue off. I’ve gone to HD and purchased carpet glue remover and it didn’t work. It didn’t even soften it. I’ve been told try sanding, hot water, and foam adhesive remover. I think I’ll wait until I get some feedback from this forum. The carpet was glued directly to the cement basement floor. It’s light tan in color and to me that doesn’t make much difference, but based on the research i’ve read the color of the glue is a good way to determine it’s chemical makeup. Based on this information i should be able to determine the best approach and the main reason I went to HD to purchase the adhesive/glue remover. It’s inside the house so sanding is something i’d like to avoid if possible. Also, i tried scraping and the glue doesn’t have enough surface ridges and is bonded pretty well to the floor.
