I’m applying tung oil on the interior of our Loewen doug fir windows. (exterior is aluminum clad). Since the windows have nine over six “simulated divided lites” (SDL) there’s no grill to remove.
Taping the perimeter of all the individual glass panes so tung oil doesn’t drip and run is adding a lot of extra effort (i.e. (9+6) x 4 sides = 60 edges / window). I don’t want to spread paint thinner everywhere to cleanup, if tape isn’t used.
Any suggestions?

No tape, put your Tung oil on and let it dry. Then scrape off the dried oil with a razor blade.
tung oil will just glue the tape to the glass. just let it run and scrape it off with razor. That will be easier than working with the tape.

I would agree with the others about razor bladding it off, However , be careful some glass can scratch very easy especialy if it is tempered. Spray some soapy water on the glass with a sray bottle then carefully blade. Also super fine steal wool 0000 works well for glass clean up.
