So I went to look at a job, an unfinished addition, that the owners/GC’s told me needed siding. Well siding would be putting the cart before the horse. Among many other issues, they got a great deal on their windows, so they bought 20 replacement windows and had them fit into new construction openings. My initial thought is to use vycor to bridge the gap between the window and the sheathing/house wrap.
The house will be getting fibercement siding, so the 5-6″ window casing with drip cap will provide another layer of protection against water infiltration.
How would you feel about this? Any ideas on a better flashing detail?
Thanks

sounds good to me.
any chance they're new const/remodeling units that'll work both ways? With the groove for nailing fins ... but no fins ordered? If so ... maybe price fins ...
so bend up some coil stock to stick into the fin groove ... might hold pretty good with a ham bent on? Either way ... I'd just note it on my contract that nailing fins were missing and we flashed with the sticky stuff. Some nailing fins I've seen ... that method may be an upgrade!

No chance on the fins, they are definitely Traco replacements. Thanks for the help.
