The LP siding on my house is growing mushrooms and black rot. Three years ago I screwed some of the warping pannels down, renailed and calked all the swollen nail holes, and repainted. I was very thorough. Now the pannels are rotting from the inside and I have to pull them off and replace them. I’m afraid I will also pull out some 2x4s. Should I break the pannels off until there is no more rot and side over them? Should I try to find all the screws first and then hope I don’t pull out a 2×4? Should I do the pannels one at a time or a whole side of the house at once? What happens to the insulation once the siding is off?
