Here in my part of NC the homeowner is allowed to wire his (or her!) own home subject to inspection. I’ve done a fair amount of wiring before but have a new problem and can’t get an answer from the local inspector! I need to reroute some wiring that will involve extending the existing wires (to feed lights, pwer outlets etc.). Rather than tearing out basement ceiling and/or crawling around the trusses above the cathedral ceilings I’m looking for code acceptable ways to extend the existing. E.g. can I use junction boxes and if so do they have to be accesible? Of course I could go to the library and decipher the code but being lazy thought I’d come here first!
