Any opinions on retractable screens for sliders? We’re looking at Anderson (who offers them), and Lincoln (who doesn’t, but there are lots of 3rd-party retractables that I assume would fit). In both cases, the screens would be on the outside. 99% of the time we have the sliders closed and through them in the view out over the valley from the family room. We could go with normal screens, but they always are in one part of the view.
Has anyone put retractables on a Lincoln? Any experiences with the fairly new retractables on Anderson? This is a 6’8″ high assembly, 12′ wide (3-panel; one fixed and a 2-panel slider).
Prices on the Lincoln seem to be a little lower (not a huge amount), and our contractors have been very impressed with them. We also could go with Certainteed vinyl units at a considerable savings, but given that wood is a primary part of the house design (mixture contemporary and rustic; it’s a much-expanded/redone 1930’s hunting lodge), we were thinking of sticking with a wood interior.
This is where it would go (there is also a fixed 4′ window to the left of the 3-pane unit, and a small woodstove just to the right of it): Image of sunroom windows
Thanks for any help/info!
