I have a loft area above my garage I would like to finish it for a hangout space. I plan on insulating it and heating it but would like to let in some natural daylight. The plan is to put a skylight on both sides of the room. What is the best way to do this and still maintain the integrity of the shingles? Are newer skylights more leak resistant? Any brands that work better than others? Garage is only one year old, should of done this the first time around!!!

Velux, Velux, and Velux. I'm assuming you have an asphalt shingle roof.
Check this thread out for installation how to. This is with slate, but the principles are the same.

seeyou gave you three options and here is another two Velux or Velux
Let me give you a sixth option, VELUX, make sure you use their flashing kit, follow directions and no leaks. Had four that are 28 yo and no leaks in New England with snow and hurricanes. New ones, are even better. Go for it, it will completely change the attic space. Kevin
Don't believe all the other guys. Get Velux.
re: VELUX- see my thread on VELUX's framing instructions-http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages/?msg=90800.1Thanks!
Like the men said.......VELUX!
