Hi, I am new to this forum. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks, and have found a lot of informative posts. My question is about Richlite? Does anyone have any experience with it? My husband and I will be building soon and am looking at this for our kitchen counter top.
Thanks,
Cappy

Cappy,
We just finished a new home and had considered Richlite, however we found out it is expensive ($100 sqft) and that it is very difficult to install in the field. The seems do not always come out looking good to the eye. If you have found an installer ask to see work that he has done in the field not just pictures as the pictures can hide a lot of defects. Good luck and by the way granite tile can be installed for the same price as formica if you are willing to do some tile work.

What is Richlite?
Just wondering, never heard of it.

Doug,
Richlite is a Green product that is made of paper fiber and resin to form a very strong and durable surface that comes in various thickness' from I think 1/4 to 3" their website is http://richlite.com/richlite/richliteindex.asp the product is really nice looking however it is not for the average home owner. The people I have talked to say that the installer can make or break you as the seams will not look good if you are not extremely careful. if you are doing a straight counter without seams you can buy the material and install yourself. I think it would make a great workbench in a shop where I am not worried about seams.
JasonIf it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have Any!

Thanks, the product looks interesting, I order a sample.
I would like to use something different than what I normally see and this certainly fits that bill.
Again thanks
