ok so this isn’t a construction question but I know some of you old timers have the answer! As a kid my family went to Indian Lake in Ohio every summer. At the little bait shop/marina there was a metal ring on a string and a hook on the post. The object of course was to swing the ring and catch it on the hook. I want to put one on my porch but where the heck can I get a metal ring like that? I know i’ve seen one before but where? I guess I could heat up some round stock and bend it around but it would probably look like crap, besides I would want it galvanized I think. Is it some kind of horse thingy? Have I seen one on an anchor maybe? The local hdwr store didn’t have any ideas. Larry

Hey Larry,
been to Indian lake a few times myself. I've even got the Cowsils (sp?) song on an album somewhere.
What dia. ring do you want? I'd call a chain and wire rope place. There are prob. several in Columbus.
Good luck and BeWell, PB
*phat... where ya been ?we can get galv. rings for marine use around here..depends on the diameter.. like phat says..try looking it up in... http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/index.htm?E+scstorethey show a 2inch bronze ring , but i've bought 3 inch galv. rings there.. call 'em uop and ask 'em for the size you're looking foror any marine supply store..
*Hey MikeJust been reading lately.Seems like it's all been said by the time I get there. Also much to do on the job resulting in more late nights than usual. Thanks for noticing my absence.PB
*One more thought on the ring.... bring it in at night. You won't lose it, it won't rust and won't have to be galvanized. Go to just about any store that sells craft supplies and you can buy an assortment of metal, plastic or wooden rings. They are/were used in macrame and other crafts.
