We have a one season core log cabin in which we have recently removed acoustical tile from the ceilings. Of course we found lovely nests and turds, etc.!
Any suggestions for insulation that isn’t conducive to rodent life? We have a sound issue but not much headroom from floor to joist bottom.
thanks in advance

I too have a log home, I am sold on ridgid foam panels..2'' is what I am using...EXTRUDED Poly..not expanded.
It must be covered with a fire barrier...drywall is the norm.
It's not too expensive ( I am paying 16 bucks for a 4x8) and easy to work with..and it don't itch.

I had a problem with the area over the entryway of our house. This area juts into the garage, and mice had gotten into the fiberglass insulation over the ceiling. Replaced it with foam (expanded PS, though probably extruded is a better choice) and haven't had any more trouble. Mice really love fiberglass insulation, as it's so easy to build nests in.
Curious...
How much do the little squeakers like cellulose?

I had a stack or two of 2" and 1/2" pink xps and the little rodents cut tunnels and made nest in the foam . Most of the foam was hauled out but some was mixed with other nest building materials .
