I’m nearing the end of my part of this project. The homeowner has asked me to advise on hide away screens, and then install them. I have never even seen these things, much less have I installed them. Thought I’d find aout all about them here, and then charge those big consultation bucks<G>. Hey, these folks are lawyers, they’ll understand. LOL
The exterior of the house is Grail Coat on osb. 6″ walls. Door jambs are 4 1/2″ wide fiberglass wrapped over wood at the hinges and flush bolts, foam in the rest. Sills are aluminum over wood on a concrete slab. 10 double doors, 4 singles.
Looks to me like it will be an inside application, mounted to the grail coated jamb extensions. The fiberglass jambs just seem a little to flimsey to hold the screens, plus that will move the screen away from the door hardware…but, I dunno, that’s why I’m asking.
Now, for the actual screens: they’re looking at Roll-Away http://www.rollaway.com/. Has anyone used them? Any recommendations for other brands, warnings, tips, deals, wanna put them in?
Thanks for any help, I’ll carefully screen all the information<G>

I believe Larson has a version, too. Single door price, off the shelf, DIY, about $125.
Phantom was a package. I guess you have to be on their distributor or installer list to purchase. Installed price, single door, about $350.
Just handling the product, the Phantom appeared to be a more substantial product although there was really no difference in the way they operated.
Only applications I've seen were installed on the exterior. There was another thread about outswing doors, these disappearing screens would work well on the interior and would not take up floorspace as a normal swinger would and might fit within the jamb or extensions rather than being mounted over the casings. Probably a special order fitting.
I was clear as mud, huh? They are planned to be on the outside of the house (inswing doors), and between the jamb extensions. Zat what you're talking about? Thanks for Phantom, you're making a bundle for the confabs on this job, ha, ha, ha! Don't worry, we can fix that later!
Bada-bada- bump! Don't worry, we can fix that later!
