I am trying to find siding with a Roman Ogee profile. It was used here in Texas from 1870s-1930s. Can it be found? or should I just get it milled?
I only need 700-1000 lf.

Not sure exactly where you are at but you might try a local lumberyard, ...if the big box stores haven't killed them all yet. Often these homes were built with material supplied by these same yards. I'd find siding at a local yard that could be had nowhere else. They still had siding etc. to keep these homes in repair. There's a profile called D-105, if I remember corectly, that might be what you are looking for. If all else fails, the yard may a good place for some recomendations for someone to mill the siding.
*Well, if you are friends w/ any mill shops (read: custom cabinet shops) and they are worth their salt ... they ought to be able to cut those for you. That's what I would try first if it were me.Happy New Year. God bless America and everybody else as well.Geo.
*PS - One or two of the major router/shaper bit suppliers (Jesada, Eagle, etc.) have started advertising 'historic profile' bits, including (I think) the one you describe.Jeff
*You also might want to try http://www.southernpine.com, the trade organizatiion for syp. They have currently produced siding profiles on their web site.
*Probably novelty siding avail. at most lumber yards
*If you can't find it, it wouldn't be that hard to take square edge siding and just run a router down it. I bet you could you do 1000 ft. in a half a day.If you're in Texas, call ACM Lumber here in Dallas. (214) 350-1341. If they don't have it, I bet they can find it or get it made for you.Good Luck,Ed.
