For Boss Hog, but anyone chime in –
Ron, I found this today perusing the adds – for quite a while I’ve wanted a dedicated mowing tractor and this one is just odd enough to be cheap enough for me – low profile and turf tires are just what I need – I only need one remote and I wonder about ‘live’ PTO – – I can’t seem to google up anything about an ‘IH 2414’ –
do you know anything about IH models? I’ve never seen one quite like this – HP is a little on the low side, but that would be good for fuel economy as long as I don’t get too far behind – any comments/observations?
dunno – fun shopping tho – it’s a bit far away to go kick the tires on a whim –

i had a ih 2400 series, with a loader. i can't remember the number,14 doesn't seem right but as i sit here i just can't remember the number. but that is right at the horsepower also. i always said mine was 40hp,but don't know where i got that from.
anyway had the tractor for probably 12-15 years ,run a 5' bushog, mowed when the grass got above the hood, that would labor it pretty good. if i would of cut when it was 2' tall i could of went twice as fast but i hated mowing the 6 acre field ,always had something i would rather do. the loader worked great,as good or better than my bobcat does now. parts always seemed available, but i worried about that someday that might become a problem.
i'm thinking mine was a 2404 as my brain jiggles around a little.google that and see what you get.larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
googling 'IH 2400' and 'IH 2404' does yield a bit of info -
looks like an early '60's vintage - maybe -
I've never been much of an IH man - and the internet doesn't seem to offer the history lessons that are so easy to find on Fords -
thanks -

I've seen IH tractors like that one, but have no real experience with them.
As someone else mentioned, ytmag can be a great resource. The forum for IH stuff is here:

Sure sounds like cheap horsepower. I never liked turf tires, but they seem to wear forever.
I don't know your HP needs, but I would guess that thing would handle a 6' brush hog without too much trouble. Might be a little light in the front end, though.
Sorry I can't be of more help...
No experience with that model, but ran a 5 ft bushhog for years behind, first a Massey TO-30, then an Case (David Brown). Can't remember the model number on the DB, but hp was approx the same as the IH you posted. The TO-30 was considerably less. Was never short of hp on either tractor, but fields of tall grass are probably tougher to cut than most of what I went thru. The bushhog would cut up anything the tractors were capable of running over.
I used to keep a field cut for a neighbor. They usually called when it got about knee high. The DB had both a 540 & 1000 rpm pto. I could just about always cut the field with the pto in the 1000 rpm setting, which results in lower engine rpms. As a result, I don't think you'd be short of power with the IH.
what's a trctor need a remote for???

T, I've got a private masseuse hired to massage the cramps out of my hands that I get from counting the cash - talk about happy endings...
but that's fruit growing - farming is another game -
in this case the 'dual remotes' refer to the hydraulic system, where there are two pairs of quick connect fittings that will operate remote hydraulic cylinders - my mower has a cylinder that adjusts the height of cut - I hook up to the mower, attach the two hoses, and make adjustments on the go from the tractor seat with a small lever - I only need a single remote for this application - some mowers fold up for transport, some feature like that could use a second remote -
all about versatility -

You mean you can't farm from your recliner???of course you heard about the farmer who won the lottery...when they asked him what he was gonna do with the money, he said..."I'll just keep farmin' 'til it's all gone"<]:o).
