Hi everyone.I have a post and beam house with a cedar shingle roof over plywood .I am replacing the 14 by 16 shed roof (3/12 pitch ) which transitions into a 12/12 pitch. The previous roofers just lapped the shingles into the transition. I want to flash this seam properly with some 12 inch wide metal as shown at the www.cedar.org site but I am going to have to use two pieces since they are only 10′ long each. How would you fasten or caulk the 2 pieces together or am I going to have another problem? Thank you.

Source control, ventilation, and filtration are the keys to healthy indoor air quality. Dehumidification is important too.

What kind of metal? If it can be soldered, then that's what I'd do. Rivets and caulk if it won't solder.
or am I going to have another problem?
Possibly. My preference would be to shingle through the transistion as was done originally. What was the problem with that detail?

Buy longer pieces of metal.
Politics is the antithesis of problem solving.
