Hello,
I’m currently having the following house custom built:
http://www.southernliving.com/houseplans/plans.asp?PlanNumber=108
OR for actual photos
http://www.oldslots.com/MiscPages/Construction.htm
Anyway, as you might be able to see there is a portion of the roof with a 12/12 pitch. On the front of the house this valley joins a 5/12 roof valley. I’m going to be using 1/2 round copper gutters and my original idea was to use exposed copper vallys. My contractor has suggested that this might not be a great idea. He feels that the large volume of water coming down the exposed 12/12 valley, joining the 5/12 valley could create problems. He has suggested I do not leave the valleys exposed.
Question is, what is your input? I really wanted the look of the exposed copper vallys, but do not want any problems down the road. BTW, we’ll be using asphalt Timberline Ultra shingles for the roof.
As always, thanks for the input.
