Hi all, a question.
I plan to re-roof my house and garage with-in a few years, and need
some thought on this.
I don’t have any vents along the top of the roof.
Here in Vermont the blowing snow tends to go thru them.
Does anyone know of any vents that will work?
Or, does it matter?
I would like to keep the attic cooler if possible in our summer heat.
But, I worry about the insulation getting wet.
Any thoughts?
I’m exploring now for the future.

I would reccomend the Certainteed vents with an external baffle on them. Visit certainteed.com and you will find a wealth of information on this subject. They will explain exactly what an external baffle is. This baffle causes the wind blowing over the roof to suck the air out of the attic, instead of blowing it in like many others do. I actually saw a video demonstrating this. A university used colored smoke so that you could see exactly what was going on on each roof. The roofs were identical and built next to each other just for this project. The one with the external baffle actually pulled the air out (which is what you want). The other roof allowed some air out but actually pulled some in.
