DW had someone come over and give a us a re-roof estimate. Guy gave the material shingle amount as a “cube” vs a square. Don’t recall the number she conveyed to me, but it was less than one “cube”. I have only heard of squares for a roof ( ours is ~ 18 squares). What does a cube translate into or was the guy full of it? Thanks.

Are you having regular asphalt shingles installed (as opposed to slate or something unique)?
I can only imagine that the "cube" is a pallet of shingles, but that does seem like a strange way to measure.

A cube denotes 3 dimensions. Maybe he's gonna install some 3 dimensional shingles. With a nukular nailer. Was it Jetson Roofing Company?
The only thing I can figure is what Jon said, but full pallet quantities vary from brand to brand and model to model, so that's not a universal measurement.
However, recently if I need special order shingles, I often have to buy full pallet quantities. So that may be what he was talking about. But 18 squares is way more than an average pallet. I think they run about 12-15 sq max, depending on the weight.

I know what a cube is, it's 3x as much as the dolly at Lowes will let you push on the waxed floor, wearing smooth soled boots.
No kiddin, I loaded up 3 square ( 12 bundles) on the stupid blue cart..I had to get help to get it rolling..then I couldn't stop it at the register..LOL

If I want more than 3 bundles I get them to load them with a fork lift.
