Roofing Cap Stapler Resale Value
I see ABC has a cap stapler on sale this month. I think I need this if I want to use hi-tech tar paper. The kind of stuff you can put up to dry in but maybe not shingle for some extended period of time.
I’m thinking of doing a small sections of tear off, redeck, dry in, repeat. I love to divide and conquer.
They want $234 for the air gun. It comes with a free 100′ Komelon 100′ Fiberglass reel tape measure. If I buy the air stapler how much do you think I can resell it for either in the breaktime classifieds or EBAY?

Dave, you talking about something like RoofGardII?
Staples and string will hold that stuff for a year or more. I'm concerned the staples are going to rust out before the paper quits.
Don't need no stinkin' caps.
As to what a used gun is worth, look on ebay now?

A Hammer tacker you say. whose do you like and is the leather belt holster needed? I gotta belt.

Dave, I have a small air stapler that squirts staples like a machine gun.
It's a Sears I got on Ebay for $10 long ago. 20 gauge staples are cheap, about $5 for box of 5000 Duofast
It similar to this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42242&item=4388228212&rd=1
Works great for string & putting the Regal Wall fabric on for blowing cells. Lots easier on the elbow than a hammer tacker too.

Dave, cheapo Sears stapler and roof. Second stapler is a Senco, Sears works better.
This has been on here for about a year. About time for a neighbor to start bitching.........Oh, no neighbors, no problemz.
The string idea is BT post from 4 or 5 years ago, can't remember who came up with it originally, but it wasn't me.View Image

Does that thing shoot something similar to Arrow staples???
I'm not getting the string story.
Looks like ABC has Roof Guard2 and Sure Foot. Sure Foot looks better for heat reflection. The catalog is asking $150 for a 250'x4' roll of Sure Foot. Sohehow I'd bet felt is a lot cheaper.Big Macs - 99 cents
Dave, Here's another picture of the string thing.

Start by laying your first row of paper and stapeling it in a few spots along the top to hold it.
In the middle of the row, staple a string at one end & stretch it to the other end. Staple it and then put one every few inches along the entire lenght of it.
Do the same for the bottom edge. Leave the top as is and unroll your next length of paper.
Repeat the process as you go toward the peak.
When your done you have a row of string and staples running across the roof from side to side about every 2' if you're using Roofguard II or similar.
Can't tell you about other products, but I think the price of Roofguard is worth whatever the additional cost is. When you're walking on it it's like walking on pavement. It's got a grip to it.
And yes, these staples are similar to Arrow T-50

Just FYI..and all. We use a LOT of Titainium UDL. It has a multitude of warnings ' DO NOT use staples'. So, we don't. All button caps. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Button caps rock. No special tools needed and you can carry about a bazillion of 'em in your bags and not even know it.

Material is just bit more than 30lb felt, labor way less. It is 4' wide and light as a feather.
I think the last price I saw was just about 111 bucks for 4 sq. roll...I don't actually buy it, just roof over it. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

$27 a square? I think I paid about $150 a roll shipped UPS when I bought the Roofguard a year ago. 10 sq roll.
Life in the boonies, UPS brings what gets me only that "Duh!" look from the guys behind the counter at the local supply yard.
"They don't make that" seems to be the favorite expression at a lot of the local suppliers.

Again, I don't actually buy it, Greencu does. The muchachos install it..I come along after and cover it up. I inquired with him about for my crib and guessed me a price last yr.
For my mostly flat ...2 1/2 12 back roof, I gotta use I&W shield and then reroof. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Where can you buy it online, in case my local supplier ('duh') can't figure out what it is?
And has anybody ever made a side-by-side comparison of the RoofGuard and the Titanium UDL?
And ANOTHER question - my roof pitch is 9/12 - am I supposed to use the peel-and-stick stuff on a steep roof, or can I do the staples-and-string trick?
Thanks all.
Jon, I got it from Drexel Metals. They have a warehouse in Denver as I recall & shipped it UPS to me in California. http://www.drexmet.com/index2.html this is their catalog,
It's not just here in the boonies it ain't happening, Southern Cal also but there is a rep in Cal. He hooked me up with someone at Drexel & they got it done.
I've never seen the Titanium, but if that $115 a roll of 4 square is right it must be pretty magic stuff. Roofguard is about the price of felt and 1000% better stuff.
You can do the string trick on any pitch, has nothing to do with peel & stick? Roofguard is an ice & water barrier, but not the same type of self healing snot membrane.
And if you look up roofguard you get Drexel Metals as the US sales outlet. http://www.rooftopguard.com/ in the contact section it has an 800 number & email address.

Titanium UDL comes in a 10sq. roll as well (not 4 sq - that must be 15# felt) and I paid about $125 for that 10 square roll.
It also has very good grip, rolls flat, doesn't have any tar residue. Love it love it love it.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA
