Hi,
just had my made in germany sds porter cable die an early(past warranty but not heavily used at all) smoky death. was wondering what to replace it with, i liked the configuration (compact-motor not inline) was thinking maybe makita or hitachi in the 7/8″ to 1″ size (roughly).
Help please!
Thank you

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Bosch - mine is heavily used and requires next to no maintenance.
A vote for Hitachi. Bought my DH24PF after an impromptu race between the Bosch and Hitachi reps at a tool show ...... the Hitachi kicked butt. I've used my boss's Bulldog; it's a good tool but I prefer my Hitachi - it's lighter and drills faster. Both tools have been upgraded. The DH24PF3 has a more powerful motor ........ not sure on the Bosch. To save $ on Hitachi check out the recons at Reconditioned Sales. http://www.reconditionedsales.com/Rotary_SDS_Plus___c376.aspx Amazon usually has recon Bosch. As for your PC, maybe the smoke wasn't terminal .......... maybe just the switch? Might be worth checking out.
