Sorry for bouncing around the site. This is the most bizarre site for navigating I have seen! I posted on a poorly done texture job on my drywall. I have been advised to build it(skim coat) with mud, with plaster, and god knows how many different suggestions. A reply here suggested sanding down. What grit series should I use? How about the wire mesh type of abrasive? I have been told and orbital will leave marks that won’t be coverable with paint(those little circular marks). This is quite frustrating as I do NOT want to start this without the idea the job can be finished right. Help!

Dave,
It's a messy business when you're careful...using an orbital sander would be a nitemare. If it's not too thick, use a pole with a pad/wire mesh.
