did a job over the weekend. Had to cut and attack 4 “bun feet” to a kitchen island.
round … and swoopy .. feet.
Seeing as how I was sick the nite before … and my buddy was sick all week before … I decided I’d give some thot to cutting the round-ish hunk of wood down to the right “height” instdead of just grabbing hold and either puching it thru the table saw or holding tight and hoping for a smooth cut on the sliding compound miter saw.
It was around 5″ tall … and 3″ across.
and round .. and swoopy. So … no chance it’s set nice and tight against a fence for a nice safe cut. The big risk was it cocking and catching then flying off and dragging a hand thru a blade …
so I thot … what I need is to make this round thing square .. so it sets square against the fence.
So I just measured … it was 3″ “thick … then cut a 3×3” square block. Then found center … and drilled .. and drove a screw thru.
The feet had the center holes from the lathe .. so all I had to do was screw the square block onto the uncut end …. and safely cut it on the slider.
Worked great because each piece required “just another hair” off for a perfect tight fit that didn’t raise the inland cabs. Tight fit made for easier screwing down thru the cab bottoms.
Here’s the simple square jig … that probably saved my fingers. As I said … both of us not being 100% … I know for a fact what’s when ya tend to lose fingers.

Good for you.
Uh, is that a Piffin screw?
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
nope ... that's a real european cabinet certified screw!
I think that bag of extras came from Neff.
really nice screws btw!
