Did anyone else see the episode of Bravo’s “Top Design” where one of the carpenters seriously cuts his thumb on the table saw? They show the saw with a half-finished rip with blood on the board and blade. No guard installed. Carpenter says “I just pushed my thumb right into it…”. Comes back from the hospital to go back to work w/ a huge bandage on his thumb.
What’s bizarre is they show him cutting with no guards, eye protection, ear protection, and no disclaimer (“…don’t try this at home…”). Hard to believe their legal dept. doesn’t step in.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that last night!
He went right back to making narrow (like 1 1/2" or 2") rips without a guard, without a push stick, and reaching around the blade to grab the offcut with his heavily bandaged left hand!
After that I didn't feel sorry for him at all. He should get a Darwin award.
It was the first time I'd seen the show--I kind of liked it besides the way the designers treated their carpenters--what did you think of it?
I don't watch the show, but heard there were promos hawking the blood.
As they say in the media, "if it bleeds, it leads."
Speaking as someone who grazed his own finger 20 years ago on a tablesaw (too small of material to be cutting), stuff happens.
I am surprised however, that this incident wasn't used to highlight saw safety. Of course, maybe scaring people with the blood shots will be warning enough.
