Hi all. Just poured a small 3″ thick pad for my wood stove, surface ended up a little rough from the fibers I put in I think, wondering if there’s a good way to sand down the pad, and what the best technique and materials are. Cement is 2 days old now and drying fairly fast being inside. Thanks for the input.

Quickly go get a rubbing stone. Even HD and Lowes have them. Looks like a brick with really deep grooves on one side. that might work ifyou get to it soon enough. Otherwise you could dress it with a diamond wheel, which will be very dusty.

I would just thinset a nice natural tile on top of it. I would pick one that is square enough not to require grouted joints. It would look better than ground down cement.
concrete resurfacer, color it if you will. Home Depot, Lowes
