Customer wants minimal obstruction of view…how big can screen and frame panels be and still be sturdy?
I have openings of 6′-6″ x 7′-6″ and might opt for a 1/4 over 3/4’s transom screen over large screen panel.
Also any ideas for materials and techniques for building these for durability and minimal maintenence?
TIA

I think you're going to be limited to the width of your screen material, which I doubt comes 6 ft wide. When I built my 20' x 24' screened porch, my openings were made 3' x 5', with double 2x4s dividing each window opening. I dont' feel that they impede the view at all. The lumberyard that made my screens did put a horizontal piece of the frame material halfway up the 5' length for stability. These pieces probably impede the view more than the vertical openings, in my opinion.
Ask your customer to consider the mosquito curtain. http://www.mosquitocurtains.com
I have a covered porch with a 25' of perimeter to screen. Total cost for the mosquito curtain is about $400. Hard to beat the price, especially since the labor to install is minimal.
We've got 4' x 8' screens at a vacation rental. They are impossible to keep tight. The un-interrupted view is nice though!
I saw this while looking around, it looks interesting. Somewhere I read that they installed it in a 12 x 8 opening
