Hi Guys!
This forum came highlt recommended and I hope I can get some insight into something.
I have studs 16″ on center. Does code allow for the drywall to be screwed every other stud, essentially every 32″? I’m not looking at the reasonability of this, just the code acceptance. Most local codes follow the IBC, but I see no reference to screw spacing.
Thanks!

You're probably under the IRC for residential, which definitely has tables for screw spacing based on stud spacing. I don't have the book in front of me, but I doubt very highly that there are tables for 32" spacing.

HT, welcome to breaktime.
I have to ask. Why would you skip a stud? Would you plan on using glue?

Code, schmode!
Do it right, the skip spacing allows too much flex/ movement.
16" o.c. helps the panel stay put."If 'tis to be,'twil be done by me."
The 2000 IRC has table 702.3.5 that list fastening schedules. It varies depending on ceiling/wall, DW thickness, screws/nail, with/with out adhesive.
And stud/joist spacing.
Now there is nothing that specifically requires that every stud/joist be used when fastening.
However, the table does include applications where the maximum spacing is 16" and where the maxinum spacing is 32".
But does not give anything for 32 or 48". So those applications are not included in the code.
Now if you wanted to space studs at 8" then you could skip every other one or even 2 in a row and use the 24" column.
