Sure, it would work. We used to use a bigger, steel model for larger commercial projects. On residential framing, jacking and bracing is readily accomplished using framing lumber on hand.

depends on the throw of the thread.. if it's fine then they would be useless.. if it's exceedingly coarse, and the total adjustment is in the 6" range, then they'd work............ ok..
they are not as versatile as concrete-form adjusters because they are harder to mount... the ones we use, have angled mounting plates and big holes to drive rebar thru and little holes to drive nails thru
