I just had this dryer vent installed. I have what I think is “thumb gum” (picture below) that I intend to seal the outside with. Inside, I am planning to use plain ‘ol Great Stuff foam. Is there a better way to do it? (Click thumbnails for larger view.)

Could you recommend a better sealant?
Plain old exterior caulk would probably be better. It does, however, require a modest amount of skill and practice to get right.
