I have granite countertops with slate backsplash in the kitchen, granite countertops with standard 4″ granite backsplash in the bathrooms and ceramic (porcelain) tile in the shower/tub areas. I have searched the “Break Forum” and have not seen specific products listed for sealing and/or cleaning slate, granite, or tile. As such, here are my questions.
Question: Sealing Slate
I have sealed the slate backsplash with Stonetech’s “Heavy Duty Impregnator Pro for Stone, Tile, and Grout, but have not been impressed. I checked a few local stone/tile suppliers and they suggested products by PSI or Aquamix. Does anyone have any recommendations? Suggestions?
Question: Sealing Granite
I have been told to periodically seal my granite countertops. Recommended products? How often?
Question: Sealing Tile in Shower/bath areas.
I have been told conflicting information about sealing grout and tile. Some say grout only because a film will develop, some say both. The tile is an impervious commercial grade tile by Daltile, which I would not think requires sealing. Any suggestions? How often? Products?
Question: Cleaning Granite
I have been using a mild mixture of dishwashing detergent and water for the daily cleaning, but have also used Stonetech’s Wipes which have work very well. Recently someone recommended a solution of 1/3 alcohol, 2/3 water for cleaning granite. Any thoughts? Other solutions?
Question: Cleaning Bathroom Tile
Any suggestions for cleaning shower/tub areas other than mild mixture of soap and water?
Thanks in advance. Glen

These folks make some excellent products for maintaining (sealing, cleaning) all types of stone and ceramic tile.

If the granite was ground and polished, then no way will it need sealing, not unless the granite over there isn't like the granite they use in the UK
