I’m getting ready to finsh my basement in my house. After cleaning ou the basement and having a minor leak/crack fixed I checked the joint between the floor and the walls. After 3.5 year the house has settled and in a couple of places the caulk in the joint is either cracked or otherwise compromised. There has be no issues with water from the joint anywhere in the basement, but I want to re-seal the joint before I throw up my walls around the perimeter of the basement.
What kind of caulk should I use for this. I have some Sika Contractors Choice Self leveling sealant that I have used in concrete drive/sidewalk joints/cracks in the past and it has held up good, but this joint is deeper than these other cracks. Would this sealant work or is there something else that I should use? Any other advice would be appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance,

Foam backer rod to shorten the depth and a good Urethane caulk, easily found at a masonry/concrete supply. If there is still movement the urethane will take quite a bit of it v. zero. This will help seal against radon and insect vermin. Water with enough force can still push this stuff out.

Thanks for the info, sounds like the Sika will work and I'll get some backer rod and have at it.
Thanks again,

Calvin, that is what I was thinking too. Is there any caulk that u would recommend? This is all going to end up under the sill of the wall so something that will last a LONG time is prefered.
Thanks

sikaflex I believe it is called. Same urethane type caulk as the selfleveling, only not free flowing (the self leveling part.)
I use Dymonic or Vulkem 116 both by Tremco
These hi grade Urethane sealants are available at any good masonry or concrete supply.A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.
