Anybody ever have any dealings with them? I was recently contacted by them to do some kitchen/bath jobs for them. Didn’t even rrealize they were still doing this kind of work.
Job prices were decent and I’m kinda slow right now, tempted to take a look at it. Just wondered if any of you have horror stories about them.
As always any answers are highly appreciated.

I, personally, never worked for them, but I have a few friends that have in the past. I think they were mainly resurfacing kitchens. New doors, countertops, and laminating the cabinet boxes.
From the sounds of it Sears was OK to work for. Pretty much the same BS as installing for any big company. They've been advertising weekly in the Sunday paper. Looking for kitchen, window/door, and siding installers.

That's what I figured I would hear. I don't usually like subbing from some of the bigger companies but right now I'm extremely slow so I might consider it. Thanks.Greg
Dustin, I didn't realize you were from P-burg till I just now checked your profile. Monroeville's where I have to go to talk with these guys. I just email Jeff B. the other day about work in that area cause things are getting tight where I'm at. Was thinking about moving out that way. Seems there is always work going on out that.
Sears has work in my local area. But I still have to deal with the office out there.
Thanks again for the reply. Greg
I live in Murrysville. Grew up in Monroeville.
Do you do tile work? --------------------------

I think I went past Murrysville on my way out there. Yes I do tile work.Greg
In other forums I've heard some bad horror stories, commonly including prices 2x the going rate. The main problem is that they don't stand behind the work done -- they always say "He's an independent contractor and we aren't responsible".
happy?
(Of course, that's from the customer's point of view.)
If ignorance is bliss why aren't more people
happy?
Thanks. I wanted to hear about that side of things too.
Thanks again.Greg
When I was starting out thirty some years ago, I did some roofing for them.
Do the paperwork to their standards, be prompt and claenup, smile at the customers, and be careful about the ones that try to get you to do extra work for free. The work order is what it is.

Thanks Piffin. I went and talked to them the other day. They must charge outragous prices. Their sub prices seem pretty good.

They sell it as $xx/month rather than a solid price to the kind of people who are on a monthly budget and neer look at the bottom line because it hurts so bad.

I had them do some siding work 10 years ago. I had a lot of problems with the workmanship. They contract out their work. I wouldn't use Sears again for anything.
If I were you I would ask around.
I used to Live in Jeanette, PA. It's 25 miles East of P-Burg. Am still A Steelers fan.
Just my 2 cents.
