I’m just a DIY’er, but I was hoping that one of you pros could point me in the right direction. This weekend I will begin building a swingset/playhouse out of PT lumber and need some advice on setting the six 4×4 posts that will support the playhouse portion and one side of a 4×6 beam for the swings, etc. (the other end of said beam will be supported by a simple “A”)
To get the posts square should I just use the 3, 4, 5 triangle rule with batterboards and mason’s cord? Or am I overlooking the obvious?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

The 3-4-5 method is a good one, but you'll need to remember what surface or what corner of the third post is being laid out.
Depending on the size of the rectangle, another method for a DIYer is to put a couple of sheets of plywood on the ground, using them as the square layout tool. You could also scap together some 2X4's, with a diagonal brace, letting the resulting rectangle be the layout tool.
And don't spend the entire day getting it right to the width of a gnats eyelash. If you're within 1/8, the world will still rotate.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
Thanks for the help.
