Has anybody ever seen or installed Asbestos sewer pipe. I just found it outside my newly purchased home that i am remodeling. Do they make couplings or ferncos to hook up PVC to it. The old cast was leaded into it.
There also seems to be a trap installed in the line close to the road. Is this possible, i have never seen a trap installed in a sewer line.

Look, just send me to my drawer. This whole talking-to-you thing is like double punishment.
Yes they do make Ferncos for pvc to asbestos. That trap is a whole house trap, some jurisdictions still require them. If you have to cut the asbestos pipe make sure you don't breath the dust, luck.
I have never seen asbestos sewer pipe myself, but from my experience, there will be a Fernco type adapter to fit your needs. You may need to hunt down a good plumbers supply, and you may have to order it.
The main concern is that the inside of the sewer maintains a smooth internal waterway, (no where for things to snag).

Are you sure that isn't just a 'Cleanout'? This would make more sense.
"House traps" are typically located close to the house, and have a mushroom type cap on the vent.
I hope this helps!
Thanks guys, i did find a Fernco adapter. It is a trap, has the mushroom cap on it. The cleanout is about 4 feet in front of it
I replaced my old clay tile that was full of tree roots a few years ago, and the county wanted a cast iron trap with vent (mushroom cap) near the house, and a separate cleanout further out.
Ran 4" schedule 30 into the 6" a ways where the clay was still good and mortared around it . Passed inspection. Replaced old galv. supply line with 3/4 copper while it was open, too.
