SFN40 replace Paslode – Any Regrets ?
So my trusty SFN40 went walking today.
I’ve been checking out other nailers.
Was a skeptic when they first came out, but I’ve used Paslodes from other peeps here and there. No misfires and balances seems okay. Weighed out the fuel/new nails issue vs. portability, no compressor setup, etc and they all break even in my book.
For all ya’ll cordless nailer/Paslode converts, I’ve love to hear your experiance sofar.

Alan, I own the paslode finish gun, brad gun, & framer. I can tell you that they are great to have around, but you gotta keep them clean, or you'll get frustrated with them.
Are you a production trimmer, or a remodeler? If you're going to rely on this as your only gun, keep in mind the fuel cells are around 6 bucks each- not a big deal unless you shoot thousands of nails a day.
The guns are also louder than a pneumatic, & they smell, especially in a small room. Despite these drawbacks, I wouldn't think of not owning them as a remodeler- no hoses to drag through peoples houses, almost instant set-up, no compressor to lug around/ maintain, great for punch out work & on ladders.
Working as a rmldr, I have 2 framers, straight brad, finish, and the stapler. Ilove them all. fuel is a new expense; However, well worth losing the air equiptment with the kind work I do. Cleaning isn't as big a deal as some people make it out to be, but it is necessary. I just picked up my second framer for $330 from my local yard. It came with the contractors kit ( car charger, xrta battery, lube, and cleaner). They said paslode was shipping the newest version with toolless depth adj in april.
cordless guns are a nice backup ...
both framing and finish.
I'd never replace my "hosed" guns with one though.
plus ... what's the sense. Replace the 16g finish ... then what to do with the 18g, 23g and narrow crown stapler?

Alan, like the other guys say--I wouldn't be without my SFN40, or my 16ga Paslode. Both are great at what they're meant for. But it depends on your level of use. The Paslodes can be finicky, so it's nice to have a small compressor and a "hosed" gun to keep the frustration level in check.
