Shallow dishwashers for vintage kitchen?
We’d like to put a dishwasher in our 1920’s house. However, our cabinets are only 19″ deep. Is anyone aware of a shallow dishwasher that migh work in this situation? The height and available width of the open will work with standard dimensions.
Google searching has produced a lot of nothing for me…
Thanks,
Kit

With the increase in condo construction there are now a wide variety of 18" wide dws, but I've never seen any that don't need a full 24" deep cabinet. I've had a bit of experience with commercial dws. You might find a countertop unit you could work into your plans. The downside is they are prohibitively expensive.
What about mobile homes? I wonder if they have some smaller units? Or perhaps the marine field? There are some interesting appliances, like stoves and fridges, for boats. Perhaps they make dws too.
Sorry not to have been much help.
I searched "small dishwasher", came up with this, 19.62" deep x 17.5" wide:

and this, 19.5 x 17.38:

and 18.69 x 22.5:

Seems like a countertop model could be mounted inside a cabinet.
Any possibility of sliding it into a pocket in the wall behind the cabinet? I've sunk a big fridge 3" into a wall to clear a countertop in front with the door swing; flipped two studs sideways.

A Bosch dishwasher will fit
I just recently put a Bosch dishwasher in my old 1940's cabinets that are probably about the same depth. The Bosch does not require a 24" depth as mine was only 21" deep and it maybe only sticks out about an inch or so but looks completely natural. Most dishwashers are 25" deep so they would stick out of 24" deep cabinets anyways. I created a really quick writeup on it with a couple pictures. I'll add more to it later but I just wanted to get it up so people know that it is possible.

Also, to gain more room you could cut out the back of your cabinet and cut through the drywall up to the studs. That would give you about another inch of depth.
