Am I wrong on this? I now live in New Mexico. I’ve watched scads of homes being constructed in Arizona and New Mexico with: 2×4 studs (many were steel) & none were 2×6. On the corners they used 3/8″ OSB. On the rest they use 1″ white foam board. Over this they use stucco wire. A scratch coat and finish coat and it’s done !!! If you hit it with your wheel barrow you could end up in the bathroom. These homes are selling in the 200 to 300 + grand price range. How did this ever get approved? What’s the extra cost in sheathing all the side walls in OSB first? Is there no pride in your “product” ???

in the '70's many houses were built with celotex sheathing, and vinyl siding.... far as i know , they still build 'em like that somewhere...
take a churchkey, pop off some vinyl, pull out your penknife, and you were in the house.....

I've heard that arguement before - But have never heard of it happening. Ever heard of a criminal kicking his way through a wall to get into a house?

Actually, there was a report of a new crime wave in the Carolinas opf breakins through the EIFS Stucco over foam systems..

With all of the battery power tools out there today even a house with a steel door and frame of steel would not last more then a few minutes. As far as that goes most of the time you can just kick the door open the first time you try. I have done it a few times in the fire department.
Agreed.
