Saw a garage going up the other day, and I noticed the blandex sheathing was applied vertically! Is there a good reason for this, or is this a common DIYer mistake? (Appeared that someone is “building their own” and putting up the detached garage first.) Do we always apply sheathing horizontally because there’s a good reason, because it’s always been done that way, or is it just a regional thing? I can see some advantages, and lots of disadvantages. (A site search turned up nothing on this.)
